Fort Collins Rocky Mountain IPA

This IPA is brewed by the Fort Collins brewery located in Fort Collins CO, and it carries a 6.2% ABV. I had high expectations for this beer but this is what I came up with.

The Rocky Mountain IPA pours out a nice copper color with a thick head and it does lace on the glass. The aroma of this IPA is a combo of sweet malts, with citrus, and piney hops but it really isn’t all the prominent and pleasant to the nostrils. When tasting this beer I found it to carry a sweet caramel malt front but that is overrun by some overbearing bitter hops.

Now normally I love a good hop kick in the face but this was ridiculous. It completely overpowered the beer and made it almost unbearable. I would not recommend this one, so don’t waste your money or taste buds.

Samuel Adams Infinium

This Limited Edition Champagne beer is brewed out of Boston MA by Samuel Adams in collaboration with the Weihenstephaner Brewery which is located in Germany, and it has a big 10.3% ABV. I found my bottle at Starrs located in St.Louis MO and picked it up to ring in the new year.

I found this beer to pour out a gorgeous light amber color that produced a nice bubbly head that stuck around throughout the tasting and created nice lacing on the glass. The aroma carried some fruit tones such as watermelon, apple, and pears, as well as some alcohol, pepper, and spices. I found this beer to start off with the fruit tones that were found in the aroma as well as a lot of carbonation. The finish of this beer is rather dry yet crisp, and it has some hints the pepper, and spices found in the nose. I also found this beer to hide the ABV very well so be careful because it will sneak up on you.

Overall I liked this Champagne Beer however I don't know if it is worth it's price tag of $21.99. There are a lot of other beers out there at a much lower price that I would pick up first. I am happy that I was able to try this and think it is definitely a good beer to have on a special occasion such as New Years Eve. I just don't think this is something you would want on a consistent basis.
