The well known Bourbon County Stout is brewed out of Chicago IL, at the Goose Island Brewery. It is available during the winter months, and is known to make its debut on Black Friday after Thanksgiving. This bourbon barrel aged stout has a hefty 14.3%.
This stout pours out a black as night color, with a solid brown head. The aroma has a lot going on as there is some coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, and caramel. There is also a nice touch of bourbon that warms up the nostrils. For having such a high ABV this beer is very easy to drink, yet is full flavored showing off its full body. The coffee, and chocolate show up first, before leading to the smooth creamy finish that hints of the bourbon that this beer is named after.
This is yet again another fantastic Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island. I will be looking forward to it again next year. If you get a chance to pick a bottle of this up, you should. It is very, very good.
