This Smoked Porter is brewed in my backyard at the O’Fallon Brewery located in O’Fallon MO. This beer is available year-round and it has a 6% ABV. This beer also won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 2004 for the Best Smoked Beer.
I found this beer to pour out a nice black color that created a light brown head that laced nicely in the glass and also had a good retention to it. The aroma of this beer was full of flavors! I noticed some roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, and a nice smoked smell that I felt really made the beer. The taste of this beer didn’t disappoint either as that smoked taste really showed through with the wonderful roasted malt backbone, and the dark chocolate that was found in the aroma. The finish of this beer is rather dry but O’Fallon Smoke has a great balance and mouthfeel to it.
Overall I believe this is a really good beer and I would recommend you try it out. My only knock on it is that I can only drink one at a time due to the dryness of the finish.
One last thing I would like to note is that this beer reminds me of when my wife and I just moved into our home. Every Halloween we would sit outside with a fire and hand out candy. I would always make sure that I had an O’Fallon Smoke for this event.
